Shenandoah Medical Center is seeking an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) to provide compassionate, patient-centered behavioral health services. Position Overview

The ARNP – Behavioral Health utilizes advanced nursing processes to assess, diagnose, treat, and evaluate patient care. This role focuses on promoting mental health, managing acute and chronic behavioral health conditions, and collaborating with the healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.


Essential Responsibilities

Patient Care & Clinical Practice

  • Perform comprehensive assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients and families
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic behavioral health conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized, multidisciplinary plans of care
  • Prescribe and manage therapeutic interventions
  • Monitor patient progress and modify care plans as needed
  • Identify changes in patient condition and respond appropriately

Care Coordination & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with physicians, social services, and healthcare team members
  • Communicate effectively regarding patient condition, care plans, and outcomes
  • Coordinate care to ensure continuity and quality outcomes
  • Support and direct patient care team members

Education & Patient Support

  • Provide education to patients and families regarding conditions, treatment, and lifestyle modifications
  • Participate in community and staff education initiatives
  • Promote health, wellness, and disease prevention

Quality Improvement & Outcomes

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Evaluate patient outcomes and resource utilization
  • Contribute to improving cost-effective, high-quality care delivery

Professional Development

  • Maintain and advance clinical knowledge through ongoing education
  • Participate in professional activities, research, or evidence-based practice initiatives

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
  • Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

Emergency Response

  • Provide and support emergency care as needed across patient populations
  • Triage and respond appropriately to urgent situations

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned
